What are the hours of operation at New England Family Institute?
Depending on the particular clinician’s schedule, you can be seen usually from 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. Monday-Friday and Saturdays 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Some clinicians work part-time and others work full-time. Accommodations for other hours or days may be possible once you begin working with a specific clinician.
Is parking available?
New England Family Institute is conveniently located in Portland at 125 Presumpscot St. Part of the "Roundhouse" complex Portland. On-street parking is available as well as a parking garage directly across from the Institute.
How do I schedule an appointment?
You call (207) 871-1000 and speak to one of the clinicians at New England Family Institute. If no one is available to answer the phone, you can leave a message in the general mailbox stating you would like to see a therapist, your name, your telephone number, a good time to reach you and whether it is okay for us to leave a message on your answering machine/voicemail when we call back. If you do speak with someone (or when we call you back), you will be asked a few questions regarding your situation. This step usually takes a minute or two to complete. The clinical director, Tom Fitzgerald, will review the intake information and help you find the clinician that best meets your needs. The assigned clinician will then contact you directly to set up your first appointment.
What insurances are accepted?
The insurances that are accepted vary depending on the clinician you are seeing. Most major insurances are honored, including Medical Network, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Maine Partners, Cigna, Aetna and Mainecare. Sliding scale for people without insurance is also available. See below.
Is a sliding scale available?
Yes. Every effort is made to assist all clients seeking counseling services. Clinicians' sliding scale ranges from $50 - $90 per session. In addition, qualified interns are available at the affordable rate of $20 - $30 per session.
